KALYN PONGA’S AGE AND EARLY LIFE
The talented NRL star Kalyn Ponga was born on 30 March 1998 and turned 28 in 2026. Kalyn was born in Port Hedland, in Western Australia, where he spent a few years of his childhood. He later moved on to Mount Isa, in Queensland, at the age of two. In 2006, his family relocated to Palmerston North, New Zealand, when he was eight years old, and he spent five years there.
While in New Zealand, Ponga grew up as a top athlete, excelling in sports such as rugby league, touch football, hockey, rugby union, golf, and soccer. With such a strong base, he even won the New Zealand under-13 national golf championship in 2010.
The following Year, in 2011, Kalyn’s family relocated back to Mackay, Australia. He went on to enrol at Mackay State High School, became a member of the Rugby League Academy program, and also played junior rugby league for Souths Mackay.

PROFESSIONAL CAREER
After impressing as a young star, Ponga attracted significant interest and offers from several teams. Among them were the Broncos, Melbourne Storm, Sydney Roosters, Queensland Reds and Brisbane Lions before he signed for the North Queensland Cowboys.
Ponga developed as a player at the North Queensland Cowboys, playing in 44 games and scoring over 200 points. He even made it into the club’s Team of the Year.
