With the growing interest around James O’Connor’s move to the Sharks, it has since divided the fan base. With the Sharks already struggling with injuries and a lack of depth at fly-half and centre, James is a potential fit.

With the lack of depth, the Sharks have suffered three straight defeats. The first one came at the hands of Connacht in the EPCR Challenge Cup, followed by the Ospreys and Edinburgh in the United Rugby Championship.

With O’Connor available in July at the end of his Leicester Tigers contract, some fans believe that the Wallabies veteran would save them more embarrassment.

Over the years, James O’Connor has proved to be one of the finest of his generation, but at 35, only time will tell if he still has some fuel.

@AntonM “He turns 36 now. Next season, he will be 37. This is ridiculous. Get a younger South Africa to play for the Sharks.”

@S_Gradz02 “Isn’t he so injury prone. Another player, the Sharks, is just going to be funding while they recover. Isn’t he so injury-prone? Another player who the Sharks are just going to be funding while they recover”

@London Saffer “It’s a little late for April Fools, don’t you think?”

Indeed, James O’Connor had been one of the top flyhalves worldwide, and at his best, would add quality to any team. However, whether he would be heading to the South African giants remains to be seen.
