Melbourne Storm winger Xavier Coates finally speaks after suffering a season-ending injury, forcing him to undergo surgery. After a long time on the sidelines due to an Achilles injury, Xavier looked set to make a comeback.
Back on the grass, training with the team, he suffered yet another setback, rupturing his Achilles tendon. With the recovery estimated to take around 7 months, it means his 2026 season is now over.
Such a setback proved to be a massive blow for his club, but also a mental mountain for the talented winger to climb.
EMOTIONAL XAVIER COATES BREAKS SILENCE AFTER SEASON-ENDING INJURY
Sharing a picture after surgery in the hospital bed, Xavier Coates expressed his disappointment at suffering such a setback. He poured out his heart, expressing how much he wanted to be back and how everything had fallen apart.
“After months of countless setbacks and moments of frustration, it felt like a return was right around the corner,” he started speaking of the hope he had coming back.
“Unfortunately, things haven’t gone to plan, and I’ve ended up back at the start. Although this hurts, I know I will grow from this and be better for it. I may not see the silver lining now, but it will all make sense in the future,” he continued, speaking of the disappointment.
“Thank you to everyone who has shown their love and support. It truly means the world to me. Time to get to work, I will be back ✌🏻❤️” he finished, thanking the people who wished him well and showed him some love.
