Northampton Saints star Henry Pollock finally opened up after their narrow defeat to Bath. It was a tough quarter-final clash between the two giants on 10 April in the European Rugby Championship Cup at Recreation Ground.
Despite taking a 7-28 lead, they went on to lose 43-41. After the game, many players expressed their disappointment, and Bath celebrated. Bath coach Van Graan even said it was one of the finest rugby games he has ever seen.
“I’ve been fortunate to be involved in rugby for a long time, and this game certainly ranks as one of the best I have been involved in. Two amazing teams,” he said.
NORTHAMPTON SAINTS AND HENRY POLLOCK REACT TO BATH DEFEAT
After the game, Henry Pollock seemed to be at a loss for words; he did not say much. It took him a day to adjust to and digest the defeat, and he came out looking ahead.
To him, it was painful, but he is sure that Northampton Saints will come back stronger: “We’ll be back,” that’s all he said.
On the other side, Northampton expressed their disappointment, saying they are ‘gutted’.
“Tough to take, but we’ll use it as fuel for the fire., Congratulations, @bathrugby 🤝,” they said, congratulating Bath.
FANS REACT
After Northampton Saints star Henry Pollock expressed his disappointment at the Bath defeat, fans came in numbers to console him.
@James Southcombe “Well played lads, shame we were up against 16!”
@Ross Golding “The tap and go by McParland was the key moment. Should have taken the 3.”
@Matt Spink “For me, saints have reached another level, now they must mature. We must now grasp how to manage moments in these big games. When to play and when not to play almost. I’m so proud of tonight’s display, at times it’s electric, but we’ve gotta turn it on when it’s on and wind it in when it’s not.”
@Tom Hannah “Heads up, boys, you played some incredible rugby tonight 🖤💚💛”
@Martin McMahon “It was a thriller and very entertaining match up until the 75th minute. The Saints were in great form. Hope Curtis hasn’t hurt his hand too badly.”
