His size is a real asset because it combines reach and balance with the vision expected of a No. 10.

In terms of playing style, Prendergast is a tall, elegant, tactically minded fly-half. The fly-half role is the team’s primary playmaker, responsible for directing attacks, kicking for territory, and making key decisions under pressure. Those are the qualities most associated with his game.

Sam is calm on the ball, smooth in possession, and able to vary play with both hand and boot, which helps him manage tempo and move defenders around the field. His kicking game is especially important, as his height and technique help him strike the ball cleanly and control field position. Rather than relying purely on brute force, Prendergast’s game is all about vision, decision-making, tactical awareness, and an increasingly assured command of backline play at the highest level.
