Leigh Halfpenny’s father, Steve, penned a heartfelt letter to his son following his son’s retirement from rugby. The talented Welsh fullback has had an amazing career, and even his father is proud of it.
After announcing his retirement, many rugby legends, like Danny Care, showed their admiration and respect for his career. Surely, it’s a massive loss to the Wales national team, but also a career to remember, given how much he gave to rugby.
Speaking about his retirement, Leigh admitted that it would be tough to leave the game. However, George North, who will also hang the boots at the end of the current season, can’t wait to talk, hang and catch up with Leigh.
“Congrats, my brother! One of the best is an understatement. I look forward to catching up over a cold one soon and talking about the good old days 👴🏻🍺” North said, congratulating Leigh.

Steve, who shared in the comments, expressed how proud he is of his son, Leigh Halfpenny.
“So Proud of you son ❤️” Steve started expressing how happy and proud he was. “It has been a fantastic journey, and I have been privileged to watch you play around the world. An outstanding achievement,” he continued, thanking Leigh for the life he gave him. The experience of travelling around the world with him and watching him.
“Love you so much and always proud of you 🥰 Love Dad xx”, he finished expressing his love as a father.
LEIGH HALFPENNY’S RETIREMENT LETTER TO HIS FAMILY
Upon his retirement, Leigh Halfpenny thanked his family, his parents, and his siblings for their support throughout his career.
“To my Mum, Dad and sister Rachel – thank you for everything you’ve sacrificed for me to live out my dreams. Taking me to training, the cold Sunday mornings – your unwavering support from the very beginning has made it all possible, and I hope I’ve made you proud,” he said.
“To my family, friends and in-laws who have been there through it all, thank you for everything you’ve done for me. Your support and belief have meant more than I can put into words, and I’m so grateful for you all,” he finished, thanking them all.
