Josh Moorby made his All Blacks debut during their Nations Championship game against Italy. However, with his selection in the All Blacks team for the first time, fans had been asking a lot about his age.
Surprisingly, Moorby made his All Blacks debut on his birthday. Surely, his journey had been a little different; he had to put in a lot of work for years before making his debut.
With most players making their debuts before 25, Morby had to wait until he reached his peak years to wear the black-and-white jersey finally.
ALL BLACKS STAR JOSH MOORBY’S AGE REVEALED
The talented wing was born on 11 July 1988, and he turned 28 on his All Blacks debut day. Josh was born to his parents, John and Debbie Moorby. John and Debbie are well-known farmers in the Te Awamutu farming community.
On his debut, his parents and extended family came in large numbers to celebrate with him. After the game, they had some special moments together, a proud moment for the Moorby family.
He also expressed his joy after the match, thanking fans and saying it was his dream to play for the All Blacks. Moorby made his debut alongside others, Fehi Fineanganofo, prop Xavier Numia and Blues loose forward Anton Segner.
“Lifelong dream, and I am beyond grateful. Life’s a garden, dig it.” Moorby said after his debut.
JOSH MOORBY’S CAREER SO FAR
Without extraordinary perseverance and belief, Josh Moorby would not have lived his dream as an All Black. He started his professional career back in 2019, playing for Southland. Things did not work out as desired, so he joined Northland in 2022. That same year, he also joined the Hurricanes, where he stayed until 2024.
He struggled to get his best feet under him for the Hurricanes until 2026, when he became one of their best players. In 2026, he helped them lift the Super Rugby championship with a series of top and consistent performances.
With such a year under his belt, All Blacks coach Dave Rennie could not ignore him, hence called him into the Nations Championship squad.
