The All Blacks received a hero’s welcome in Cape Town ahead of their South Africa tour. Upon arrival, many fans welcomed them, and they also had time to reflect on their culture as they continued to settle in South Africa.
The second day after arriving, they had time to play wooden drums, sing, and dance with the fans. Indeed, the video showed how much the All Blacks are loved in South Africa.
Undoubtedly, one of the biggest rugby nations has so much support in its biggest rival’s country.
ALL BLACKS BRING NEW ZEALAND CULTURE TO CAPE TOWN
The New Zealand culture remains one of the most celebrated in world rugby. Their Haka is arguably the best pregame show the sport has ever seen. Their deep roots in music and dance, which have been used to motivate the team, have taken it to another level.
Now they have taken it off the field, getting closer to their fans in South Africa. Indeed, the All Blacks have since engaged many fans, gathering support for their game against the Springboks.
As fierce as they look on the rugby pitch, the Sll Blacks showed that they have a different side. Happy athletes who are deeply rooted in their culture and people.
In their engagement with fans, Rieko Ilone met an older fan, Jerry, who is set to turn 80 this week. Speaking to Rieko, Jerry looked so emotional and happy, showing what it means to fans when they meet the players.
“I’m here to support the All Blacks, and it’s something very special to me, and we’re glad Rieko is also in the team, and we’ve got, I think, a good team,” he said. He continued wishing the All Blacks happiness. “I want them to be happy. If you are happy, then you can play. No grudges, no nothing, just come and do the job. You were selected to do the job, and I want you to do a very good job,” he said.
“I know they will do a very good job, thank you, I’m only 80 man, still a youngster”, he finished showing his support.
SOUTH AFRICA WELCOMES THE ALL BLACKS
After the All Blacks landed in Cape Town and showcased their New Zealand culture through singing and dancing, fans loved it.
