TOMMY FREEMAN’S TOUGH START TO HIS RUGBY JOURNEY – EARLY LIFE
Unlike many of his England teammates, Tommy did not have an obvious path to the top. The talented speedster had to go through tough times before his dream came true.
Growing up in Oxford, Tommy started his rugby journey at Wymondham RFC. At this age, Tommy was among the fastest players, attracting the attention of the Leicester Tigers, who signed him for further development. Unfortunately, Tommy’s growth did not meet the Leicester Tigers’ expectations, and they released him. They released him on the basis that his size was not enough for professional rugby.

The following year, Tommy Freeman made his professional debut at 19 against Bath. That same year, Tommy showed his talent nationwide and in the Northampton dressing room. He won the Club’s Breakthrough Player award in 2020/21 and the Young Player award the following season.
