Former South Sydney Rabbitohs prop Jai Arrow finally breaks his silence following his motor neurone disease diagnosis. Undoubtedly one of the worst reasons for retirement, Arrow has since expressed his disappointment in leaving rugby league.

“This isn’t the way I imagined my NRL journey coming to an end, but I’m incredibly grateful for the career. I’ve had it for every person who has been part of it along the way. As a kid, all I wanted to do was play rugby league, and for 10 years, I got to live out that dream,” Jai said, speaking about how much he wanted to finish his career in a better way.

JAI ARROW THANKS THE EXTENDED FAMILY

In his statement, Jai Arrow thanked the people, family, and fans who reached out to him for the love they showed.
“Over the last few days, the amount of love and support I’ve received has honestly been overwhelming. The messages, phone calls, comments and support from people right across the game and the wider community have meant more to my family and me than I could ever put into words,” he said.

“To everyone who has reached out since my diagnosis — thank you. Your kindness, prayers and support have lifted us through an incredibly difficult time, and we will never forget it,” he continued.

JAI ARROW VOWS TO FIGHT

Speaking about his illness, Jai Arrow remained positive and vowed to fight the condition with everything he had.

“I know they say you don’t defy the odds with this disease, but I am committed to doing whatever it takes. I will fight for my daughter, I will fight for my family and friends, and I will fight to inspire and give hope to those fighting the same battle. I am ready to fight this bitch.” he said, looking ahead to fight the battle.

Jai finished thanking rugby league for everything it has given him, the moments and the joy he had in his career.

“Rugby league has given me so much, and I’ll always be proud to have been part of the game. Thank you to the fans, my teammates, coaches, clubs, friends and family for standing by me through it all. “I’m grateful I was a part of it, and clearly I’ve enjoyed myself.”

“The Rugby League and its community truly are the greatest. I love you all ❤️ Rabbitoh #1166 Brisbane Bronco #222 Gold Coast Titan #133 Queensland Maroon #196 Jai Arrow,” he finished.
