Jorja Miller was born on 8 February 2004, and she turned 22 in 2026. The talented rugby star was born in Timaru, New Zealand, where she grew up.
Jorja grew up a talented young girl with a lot of dance and rugby talent. She started dancing at four and went on to be an age-group national champion in her favourite dance, Sailor’s Hornpipe. In 2021, she participated in the under-18 national championships.

Besides dancing, she also played basketball for a while before giving her full focus to rugby. Growing up, Jorja enrolled at Timaru Girls’ High School, where she started playing rugby. Pushing to grow professionally, Jorja joined Timaru Harlequins for her professional development.
After deciding to give her full focus to rugby, she enrolled at Christchurch Girls’ High School as a boarder in 2019.

PROFESSIONAL CAREER
As she progressed, she represented South Canterbury age-group sides before moving fully into girls’ rugby when mixed competition rules changed. Later, she starred for Timaru Girls’ High School and then Christchurch Girls’ High School, where her sevens game truly flourished.
In 2019, she helped Christchurch Girls’ High win the National Condor Sevens title, underlining her potential on a bigger stage. By 2021, national selectors had noticed her, and she earned a place at a high-performance development camp.
However, her path was not smooth, as a knee injury disrupted her progress and ruled her out of Commonwealth Games selection. Nevertheless, she responded with resilience and signed with the Black Ferns Sevens squad in 2022. Soon after, she debuted at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town, where New Zealand finished with silver.
Then her breakthrough accelerated during the 2022–23 World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series. She played every tournament, made several dream teams, and earned player-of-the-final honours in Sydney. As a result, World Rugby named her Rookie of the Year for 2023. Furthermore, New Zealand Rugby rewarded her with a four-year contract through 2027, reflecting strong faith in her future.
