Sharks star Grant Williams dedicated their win over Munster to teammate Ethan Hooker following his father’s death.
It was a sad day for Ethan Hooker as he withdrew from the squad upon his father’s death. It was a perfect game for the Sharks, as they went on to win 45 – 0 in the United Rugby Championship.
The talented Springboks wing, Grant Williams, produced a fine man-of-the-match performance. He, however, went on to speak about the game and also the loss that Ethan Hooker suffered.
GRANT WILLIAMS SPEAKS OF THE DEATH OF ETHAN HOOKER’S FATHER
Speaking after the game, Williams opened up about what the game meant to the team. He also shared the pain with Ethan, explaining how much it pained him.
“I was a bit rusty, but it was good to get out there. I think it was a powerful performance from the bench, and we needed this win after losses to the Lions and Bulls.” Grant Williams said.
“It was also special for us. We know what Ethan Hooker means to this team, and he lost his Dad, which was quite emotional for us. We wanted to do it for him,” he continued.
A MUST-WIN FOR THE SHARKS
After speaking about his comeback and Ethan Hooker’s loss, Grant went on to discuss the importance of the win.
I guess every game is a must-win for us at the moment, and we’re looking forward to the challenge,” Williams said.
Sharks captain André Esterhuizen also emphasised the need for the win, given the situation with other teams.
“It was an unbelievably special game, especially for Mapimps. To finish a game off like that – especially in your 100th – I don’t think any player could ask for better than to score two tries in the last two minutes,” he said.
