Springboks star Ethan Hooker suffered a severe shoulder injury during the Sharks’ loss to the Ospreys. It was an unfortunate moment for Hooker when Ospreys winger Luke Morgan dived at him after converting a try.
With the Sharks in an injury crisis, Hooker’s injury proved to be a massive blow as they went on to lose 21 – 17. With such an injury, Hooker will also miss some international games with the Springboks.
But the big question remains: how long will Ethan Hooker be sidelined?
HOW LONG WILL ETHAN HOOKER BE OUT?
Depending on the severity of the shoulder dislocation, Ethan Hooker is expected to be out for around 4 months.
This time out means he will miss some of the Springboks’ fixtures against Italy and Georgia in July.
Sharks coach Pietersen opened up about Hooker’s injury and how they missed him against the Ospreys.
“Ethan’s injury was a massive blow for us. After scoring a try, the rules say you are not supposed to dive on a player, and rules are there to protect players, and sadly, that did not happen. He dislocated his shoulder. He is a massive presence for us, and to lose him after the first half was very disappointing and frustrating,” he said.

@matthew_p “More double standards. As per usual. Not South African, so didn’t get a card”
@nicquin93 “Player should be sidelined for as long as Hooker is injured. The Ref should also be banned!”
@greensidemechanics “Reffs will be the death of rugby… their inability to blow the laws when it comes to being impartial.”
@stevemacconditioning “Mind blowing there was no sanction… can’t get a clearer open play illegal action… unbelievable really… 👀”
