Baby bliss: Black fern Michaela Blyde gives birth (pictures)

New Zealand rugby sevens star Michaela Blyde welcomed her firstborn baby. It’s been a journey for one of the finest sevens players New Zealand has ever produced. She became the first female player to win back-to-back World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year titles in 2017 and 2018.

Michaela continued to win even outside the rugby pitch. On 4 January 2025, she dropped the great news, sharing her wedding pictures, and her fans congratulated her. It was a major step in building her family, showing how much of a person she wanted to be after her career.

A few months later, she announced her pregnancy in style, tying a cloth around her dog’s neck with a sigh, “My parents are getting me a human”

Indeed, Michaela is now a wife to her husband, Michael Brake, and a mother as well.

MICHAELA BLYDE WELCOMES HER FIRST BABY

On Instagram, Michaela shared the good news that she had given birth. In her post, she revealed her baby boy’s name, Harvey Christopher Stephen Brake, and his date of birth.

“✨Harvey Christopher Stephen Brake✨, Born on 25/03/26. We couldn’t be more in love and obsessed 🥹💙” she said.

She shared a family picture of Michaela hugging her baby, while her husband hugged their dog.
Indeed, it’s a new chapter for the 30-year-old sevens star, one completely different to being an athlete.

After Michaila Blyde shared pictures of her newborn baby, fans loved them and showed their love, congratulating the family.
