Sydney Roosters prop Naufahu Whyte has finally opened up after winning the prestigious Jack Gibson medal, named after the legendary player and coach Jack Gibson. The medal carries a lot of weight in the club’s history.
Undoubtedly one of his finest seasons, Whyte received the reward of the highest order as he went straight into the club’s history. Winning the Jack Gibson makes him one of the few players to win it in the past decade. He joins the ranks of top legends like James Tedesco and Lindsay Collins.
Surely, such a win brings with it emotions of both joy and pride. And the same happened to Naufahu, as he couldn’t hold back his emotions during a speech at the awards night.

Holding his award in his hands, Naufahu could not hide his smile as he appreciated those who won it before him.
“Thank you, brothers, James and Lindsay, you are the only people I know here (award)”, he said, leaving the crowd laughing.

“So honestly, yeah, just having my name alongside you guys, special man of this club, thank you guys”, he continued, showing his humility.
Besides him, Mark Nawaqanitawase also won big on the night, going home with the Clubman of the Year.
